Change to 310 Pantry Door

Went to close the kitchen slide and the pantry door was left open. Stopped in time before any serious damage.

Has anyone swapped the door around so the hinges are on the other side and the door swings open the other way?

Seems like if it was left open and the slide hits it the pantry door would swing closed if the hinges were on the other jamb

I believe I have the same scenario? I like the idea, but if the door swings the other way will the fridge keep the door from fully opening? Will the door hit the fridge before it fully opens? I'm not sure. I'm trying to imagine the full layout.
Too much snow and ice for me to actually go out to the RV andcheck it out in person

Interesting idea, but I am guessing the lack of speed of the slide, just may catch the handle and not actually close the door. Not to mention the wood working to repair the swapping of the hinges.

Maybe put a breathalizer on the slide switch...LOL...just kidding of course.

Seriously, it looks like the 310 has the same door type as my 370FB. I don't think the door can be reversed, because of the height of the door handle is not in the middle of the door. So if you flip it to reverse it, nothing will work, despite wood working efforts of a pro.

Great point about the handle height. I’ll have to take some measurements but I think your right.
Breathalyzer on the switch, or don’t be a dumb a** button. I need one or both.
I was really mad at myself for doing this, even made a scan of the area before hitting the button. The sound of wood crunching was enough for my stomach to drop. Can’t find any obvious damage but the hinge side of the door jamb sure seems to move more than it should?

I don't know that I fully envision why the door can't be reversed over the handle. It's just a handle. You can replace the handle with a dummy knob. You can secure the door with magnetic or ball catches to hold it in place.
At the end of the day reversing the door is likely a lot of work just to avoid operator error.
Maybe the breathalyzer or sticky note is a more prudent idea.

We are always super careful to check the pantry door before moving the slide as the dealer told us they replace a pile of those things due to slide tearing them off.
On one trip we stopped to get some lunch and I noticed the pantry door open behind the closed slide, well a box of cracker had fallen down at the bottom of the door and I could not close pantry door to open slide. I ended up having to taking an allen wrench (did not have a punch with me) and hammer and punching out the hinge pins and sliding pantry door out so we could open slide and continue on our trip.
Since then I have replaced hinges with real door hinges and put a sliding gate lock on pantry door so it cannot open while going down the road. I have a new door and trim to replace old door and trim.
Old door and door opening was actually out of square when measured and door and trim are all painted press wood so very easy to damage.
I have looked and not sure moving door handle to other side of door would matter due to clearances of the slide as it moves in and out besides you would never be able to get to hinges with slide closed if you needed to.
The new pantry door will get a sliding gate lock as well.

That is probably the best idea going. Make using that latch part of your routine and you will avoid operator error and lock/shelf failure
