Blutech water softener v Texas water

We are spending the winter in the hill country of Texas and the water here is very hard. I bought a blue tech water softener but so far it is barely moving the needle on the test strips. I tried testing bottled water and it comes out normal so I believe the test strips are OK. I have regenerated the water softener three times this week and I still can’t seem to reduce the hardness by very much. According to the test strips, I am only reducing the hardness from 25 down to 15. Maybe that’s all the farther it will go as the water is just too hard.
Cheers,
Creek

My two cents, never drink the water from the tap, I have water filters and softener before the incoming. We drink bottle water. Save your money

We've had good success using a sediment filter and a charcoal filter on the front end of the water softener. Well water is suppose to be pretty "hard", If you do a regen and immediately test, you should have soft water at that point. Otherwise, something is wrong. I would check with Blu Tech.

We have the Blutech triple filter setup and then the water softener and even in TX and the SW our water has been good from the tap and in the shower you can feel that the water is soft. We don’t use any test strips, we regenerate when the feel of the water starts to drop off, my bride notices it first with her long hair. We drink the water from the tap but it first goes through the Brita tank’s charcoal filter, we keep the Brita tank in the fridge. Never have had any negative effects from the water in all of our travels (only 44 states so far).

Make sure to fully dissolve the salt before using it to regen. Warm water does the trick.
LOL....that makes it a LOT easier for sure. I think anyone doing this once, without putting in warm water first, will quickly learn just trying to pour the salt in will be a difficult process. ...ask me how I know.

Vegas has really hard water as well.
never could get the Bluetech to keep up. Fill a 100 gallon tank and the thing was shot. I had to install a residential water softener and that handled the strain.

I regenerated again after 300 gallons and still barely moved the needle. I will try back flush and a double regen next and see what happens.
