Black tank valve failure

Any current Alliance owners particularly with an Alliance Paradigm 310RL where the black tank valve is not working properly. For the past few months the cable has been difficult to operate. What have you done to repair? And where is the location of the black tank valve under the frame area?

Glad it all worked out. 🫡

So we managed to limp the tank and trailer to B&D RV in Vernal, UT. They found our cable was broken and routed poorly. Got the repairs approved under warranty and a new valve and cable installed. Tech said he routed it with less of a pinch. So far so good. Still looking to pick up a gargoyle along the way this summer.

Everybody always adds on the twist on valve. I shorten my pipe and add the glue on valve. It don’t stick out any more then the stock set up or set any lower. Just an option.

I took the same route, shortened pipe and used a glue on valve. This was a day one modification for me. Also added a clear end cap with a drain connection just in case there was any seepage, I would know it was there and can manage it effectively.

I had mine glued on, before I would take delivery of my RV. I also gave sales hell for not making that standard, whether the manufacturers put one on or not. LOWES carries the black drain pipe they use under the rig, for those who might want to re-plumb their RV. I am amazed at some of the ridiculous plumbing, under some of the RV's I see. Some have two discharge points and it could easily be reduced to one.

Seems close to the tire? That might just be the angle Of the picture?

It is no closer than the original drain pipe but yes it could be the angle of the photo

After several months still having problems with the black tank valve. Have re-lubed the cable and the seals.At this point I can only think the cable due its length is binding some where. Not sure if using a shorter cable would work. Seriously considering upgrading to an electric gate valve, mainly just for the black tank valve.

After viewing a video on you tube, we did the following removed cable off the valve and removed 1/2” of the cable sheathing where the cable connects to the valve. NOW, it opens and closes a lot better.
So, possibly the cable was or is probably: (Valterra has instructions as to the proper install method)
1. too long
2. and or has too many bends in the cable.
Felt it would take too much time to either re-insert the OEM cable or re-locate a new cable.
My question is how many people may have the same problem? When this solution seems to be working so far.
Hopefully, this fix will work for a while.

Since mine has not closed all the way since new, I believe you have found the problem. I have been so busy this year, I haven’t had time to go camping, yet alone drop the belly to fix this alliance f up.

one of my tanks cables pulls hard, so I am just waiting for the fun to begin with that project. Maybe I can sell it, before it happens.....
Much like they have so much excess electrical wire in the underbelly, the same person was calculating the cable lengths...LOL

It has been a hard pulling cable (Relative to the other 3 tanks), since I got it 3 years ago. I am guilty of what, if it works and is not leaking or outright broken? I simply stated, my anticipation of the resistance being an issue down the road.....Look at my posts and see all the preventive fixes I have made, without a failure even being a factor. There were also failures I had to fix.

Setting aside your comment of my "POSSIBLE" lack of morality and doing "the wrong thing"....this highlights each buyers responsibility to do a PDI. When I get rid of this rig, I will most likely wholesale it out and call it a day. I am quite sure, my rig will be a great purchase for a first time buyer. I just have no time to bicker with selling it myself. The responsibility is on the buyers side, as this forum and the issues discussed highlight. Did I feel defensive with this comment?...yes...am I ok?...yes...Let's highlight the PDI before purchasing...experts can really help the buyers!!
