Bedroom slide second failure in 7 months

We are on the road finishing a Thanksgiving trip and this morning our bedroom slide mechanism failed while retracting. The slide was about ¾ retracted when I heard a ‘pop’ followed by a grinding noise and the right side stopped moving. This is the second failure of the mechanism since we bought the RV new this spring. The first failure was on the left side, though. Not sure if the first failure on the left caused an eventual failure on the right? Still under warranty, so we’ll take it to the dealer when we get home, but I’m curious what others have experienced with these slides. So far, not impressed. At this point, I think the whole damn thing needs to be rebuilt, but convincing the dealer of that might be a tall order.

Anyone else had similar issues?

I have a 310rl and had one motor strip the gears. It is in the shop now for repair under warranty.
With one motor remaining it was not difficult to push the slide in or out while using the remaining motor.

The first failure was like yours. We could still get the slide in and out by pushing on the inop side while running the motor to drive the good side. This second failure seems different. Lots of grinding noise after the failure and the slide is difficult to move. It took a lot of effort to get it the rest of the way in. Not interested in trying to move it any more. Thank god it was on our second to last morning before getting it home today.

TJJ,
I believe you might be talking about a different type of slide.

This thread was referring to Cable Type Slides made by BAL.

But by all means, share the TSB link and maybe OC can separate it out as different thread if that turns out to be the case.

Any collective knowledge is useful to the forum members.

It appears from the social media posts on here and on Facebook, that there are many owners having issues with the bedroom slide, to include us.
Long story short, when I took possession of our 2025 310RL at the dealer, I did not notice the torn vinyl spot by the dresser until I got back to Texas. Fast forward a bit. Just before the warranty expired, Alliance sent out a floor company to repair the floor, we were not aware at that time what caused the damage. Two weeks after the floor repair, we went on a trip. Opened the slide at the campsite, the patch had been torn up.
Still not aware of the cause, I got on my hands and knees and peered under the bed as it was coming to a stop. Apparently the left side of the bed was coming in a few inches behind the right side. Right side stopped, left side continued forward, this caused the left side to force the bed to the right side, right roller digging into the flooring, hence the tear.
Sent this info to Alliance with pictures and video. I received a new RPO # and was told to take it to a dealer for repair.
I contacted the local dealer, explained the situation, gave them the RPO#, and took the RV to them for the adjustment. That same day, I get a second response via email from Alliance stating, "Sorry, your RV is now out of warranty, if you decide to have the slide adjusted, you (me) will have to pay for it.
What can I do? I went ahead and paid the $215 for the slide adjustment, but I still have a torn floor.
A few days later, the slide starts doing the same thing, pushing that roller into the torn spot.
I contact the dealer and they said that it must need new 'slides.' They stated they would send in a complete repair request to remove the slide, replace the slides and and remove and replace the entire floor on the upper deck.
I sent two emails to Alliance pleading my case as this was still an unresolved issue that began before my warranty expired and was not properly repaired. No response to either email.
Dealer called and asked if I was going to bring the RV back in for repairs. I told him Alliance is not responding to my emails, so I'd need a cost quote before I made up my mind if I had to pay for it myself. I thought, what the heck, floors already damaged, just deal with it and go on about our business.
Dealer insisted he could persuade Alliance to cover the repairs as he has a great relationship with Alliance. I told him to keep me posted, but I wasn't holding my breath.
Maybe six to eight weeks later, dealer calls me to let me know Alliance has agreed to make repairs. This was Dec 5th. I immediately got the RV hooked up and took it to the dealer that same day so they could take pictures, get serial numbers, whatever Alliance was requesting in order to the get parts on order and the ball rolling.
Yesterday I stopped by the dealer to check in and they were still awaiting to hear back from Alliance, they'd call me when they hear something. Last discussion he had had with Alliance, they were saying they were going to add more rollers under the bed, relocate the right roller so it is not stopping over the damaged area, then patch the damaged spot versus replace the entire floor.
He asked if Alliance had reached out to me and I said NOPE, not a word, no email, no call, nothing.
Today, the dealer tech rep calls me and said Alliance had just called him to tell them the plan. As of now, the plan is to remove the rollers from the sliding bed frame and mount them directly to the floor, thus the bed is sliding across the stationary rollers. The tech was telling me he wasn't sure this would work because of where the bed sits when it's open and closed. The rollers may be exposed and out in the open. If this works, then they will repair just the damaged spot again versus a full floor replacement.
I don't know, I'm leery of this as well, but I have to have faith.
I'm not upset with Alliance, never have been. I love my 310RL and have no regrets with the purchase. This issue hasn't changed my mind on that. Things happen, it's life, deal with it as best as ya can and go on.
Picture of the original damage, before any work had been done.

My May 2025 build 310RL actually has the rollers mounted to the floor. No issues yet. "Knock on wood"
That's good to know. Thanks

I'm curious, did it come from the factory with them on the floor?

We have a 2024 Paradigm 340RL. We are on our 3rd gear motor for our bedroom slide. If you are standing outside looking at the slide it is on the left side. All they do is replace the motor instead of finding out what is making the motor malfunction. We only had a one month long trip with 4 stops after it was fixed the first time. A little while after we got home, we pulled the slides in to wash the Rv and that same motor broke again. We had it fixed again. We are now afraid to take it anywhere.

The motor on the right side left side from outside on our 24 310 went out. It was bent like Bryan’s did and dug into jam. Ordered new motor but slide still made noise. Ended getting extended warranty to repair. Was able to get a whole new jam unit. Actually got left and right so have spare assembly for other side. There is definitely some type of problem in design.

Contact alliance with vin number. They should be able to help. The Bal website I think has parts breakdown but lengths could be different based on unit build.
