Backup camera recommendations

Fellow Allied members,

We just purchased a 2027 Alliance All Access 25RL and it came with backup camera prep but no recommendation as to what sort of camera would best fit. Therefore, I'm reaching out to others who might have experience with your own backup camera setup to give me an idea as to what direction I might go when acquiring my own camera.

Thanks for the reply. When Alliance says "backup camera prep" I assume they mean the trailer has been pre-wired by the factory at the rear of the trailer to accept installation of the rear facing camera correct? I did visit the Haloview website, and I see (no pun intended) they offer all sorts of options or packages including being able to monitor tire pressures (TPMS).

Our trailer we have has four valve stem caps that have the color red on the end on the cap. Do you know whether I will need a different cap to be able to monitor tire pressures? In other words, does our trailer already have a built-in TPMS sensor installed on all four wheels and all I need is to have a way to monitor the tire pressure?

@MTPaul As I said in my video, I decided to not use the Alliance prewired power circuit. I tapped into the RV's marker lights, so they camera only comes on with trailer connected via 7-way AND headlights are on in the truck. Behind the "camera prep" plate you will simply find a 12v wire circuit.

The valve stem on the RV are not part of a TPMS. The only thing on the RV for TPMS prep is the repeater.

I went with Haloview and then added a 4th camera for the truck bed to attach the gooseneck. It's been good so far.

I also went with a Haloview camera. We use the the BT-11, we've used it for years and we really like it. I went with that one because the display is designed to strap over the rearview mirror and the BT-16 (also deigned to strap over the rearview mirror) wasn't out yet. Even thought the video display is shaped like the rear view mirror (wide and narrow) the actual video is normal sized. I just didn't want to further clutter up the dashboard with another piece of equipment. It also has a front facing camera. So it records the what is going on behind you and in front of you and stores it on a SD card. Haloview seems to be phasing out the BT-11 in favor of the BT-16. I used the wiring that Alliance provided, but I did replace the camera switch on control panel with one that lights up blue when when the camera is on, so i wouldn't forget to turn it off.

We decided to go with the Haloview BT-7 set up with two side view cameras linked up as well. As the BT-7 monitor is fairly large, there isn't a suction cup mount for the windshield included in the kit, only a dash adhesive mount or a bracket mount. Are these the only mounts that others have used or have you come up with your own unique mounting system?

I printed this on my 3D printer, but I used PLA and not PETG...should have used PETG. I made it to the national rally from Oregon, but then the truck sat in 95 degree weather (I forgot to take screen down from mirror) and the PLA filament deformed in the heat. I then made a wood version.
I didn't know much about 3D printing at the time, but now I would simply reprint using PETG in my new Bambu Labs P2S 3D printer. :cool:
