2025 32RLS.
Went camping Friday. Backup camera worked great driving out to the camping site. Really like to see behind me going down the road.
Hooked up Sunday to come home, checked lights, all working but back up camera kaput!
Anyone have ay simple problem thats easy to fix?

Maybe the camera power switch in the trailer was turned off? My 262RB has the backup camera switch on the control panel.
OMG! As soon as you said that it dawned on that I had turn the switch off and told myself "Now don't forget to turn it back on!!
I am LMAO at myself right now!! I'm not sure what effect if any leaving that switch on all the time would cause. If I'm thinking correctly, the camera has to have power from the lights to work. But if that is the case, why the on-off switch?
Any knowledge on that?

In every RV I've owned, the backup camera was powered by the parking lights. If my truck had the parking lights or head lights on, the camera was on. For some reason, Alliance dedicates the camera power to a separate switch. I don't care for that setup, so I just leave the camera switch in the on position.

Ox262, I agree. Not sure I understand the reasoning behind the switch other than making people wonder why the camera isn't working!!
Maybe someone else on here will have some insider information.

OK explain please. If it is on all the time how is it powered if it is not connected to the tow vehicle. That is the only way mine works and the lights are on.
On my 310RL it works as any other 12vdc circuit. It's not tied in to the running light circuit.
I can't explain why yours would need both on unless the switch itself is tapped into the running light circuit instead of battery 12vdc. That would seem unnecessarily complex for them to do so maybe at least starting with 2024 the switch is on battery 12vdc source. But you have a '25... so 🤷🏼‍♂️

You can power the camera 2 ways.
  1. Using the 12v dedicated switch, which will give power to camera regardless if truck is connected or not.
  2. Tap into marker light and NOT use switch. This will only provide power when truck is connected and trucks lights are on
    1. Option #2 is my preferred method.

Thats a nice option but not very helpful from the rear view. Might be nice if they side camera's are on the same system. I will check that out Monday when I go over to do some other minor housekeeping.
Thanks!
Happy Glamping!

Interesting idea, OC. Since my camera display is 12v, I'd have to install a 12v connection in the trailer to plug in the monitor. But then I'd only be monitoring the back of the trailer. I could install more cameras, my display supports up to 4 cameras but tying into that camera switch would be tricky. I guess I'm not that paranoid while camping (unless I was boondocking in the middle of nowhere). YMMV

Same here..I have never done this and never plan to. I was simply stating a guess on how it was used by some.

You are 100% correct. While camping this weekend, tried different ways. The camera is on when the switch is on. It is tied like you said to the 12V system and doesn't need the tow lights on. Now, the side marker lights, differenct story. Lights have to be on for those to function.
On my new truck, while connected to the RV, when you turn your blinker on, the screen in the truck shows the right or left side of your vehicle. Makes it nice to see the tires are missing that curb!
I assume as someone mentioned, you could use the backup camera and the monitor inside as sort of a security camera.
Happy Glamping!!
