Avenue 32RLS, Replacing 20 (12/2) amp cable with 30 amp (10/2) and adding subpanel.

I want to change out my inverter prep from 20 amp to 30 amp to support a 3000W inverter and be able to add a subpanel for the original inverter circuit and be able to add 1 or 2 more circuits to cover more outlets in my trailer. If anyone has done this before, how how is it to rerun the cable through the flex conduit from the front compartment? It seems the underbellow is attached with one time use non-removable fasteners and I would rather not cut those off to run new cable. Also can anyone point me in the right direction for a small AC subpanel for RV use, main + 3-4 breaker slots?

I am looking to do the same in a 29RL. I have sent email for support in this very question and have received zero support from Alliance? I’m finding the company that boasts as a Customer Driven Company, does not give much for customer support after the sale.

I would be interested in any information by anyone that has done this. I think it is pretty strait forward and you already have a 30amp breaker in the panel for inverter. I have also question Alliance on why they would install a 30amp breaker feeding a 20amp circuit? Breaker would never trip in the event of an excessive amp draw. I also am going to add microwave to inverter circuit. If I don’t get an answer from Alliance or from this forum, I’m going to tear into mine. I will post on this thread how I make out and what I do.

The 30 amp breaker for the inverter is an active recall on my trailer. I already swapped to a 20 amp until I get this change made.

I was off a month! Ours was delivered in Florida 4/19 so went trough assembly last week of March? I have not had any recall yet. I have already installed 3000W inverter and 2 LifePo4 100Ah bluetooth batteries. Only thing I have been waiting on is the auto transfer switch. I don’t believe it will be too difficult to run 10/2 wire in from the front compartment to the panel? Hopefully I can use the existing wires to pull in the new.

I just ordered 10/2 wire and some additional cable pulling tools. The family is out of town this weekend, so we are not camping. Hopefully pulling the new cable goes well.

Clay, You may be able to use the existing 12/2 wire to pull in the 10/2? I am hoping that Alliance ran the flexible conduit back to the panel. If they did, then one could use 10 stranded which would make it very easy to pull in. Hopefully, Alliance did not tie these wires to other wire bundles?

This seems like an upgrade many owners will do?

I did not chose to upgrade to an Inverter/charger, may regret no doing that now?

I used the inverter charger to get the ATS with pass through. Charger not so important since the newer converter/chargers support lithium. I haven't found the termination of the flexible conduit, I suspect it just gets into the underbelly and terminates in a junction box just behind the water/controls panel in the pass though.

This is going to be fun. The inverter circuit leaves the breaker box and goes into the underbelly no conduit in site. There is one of those access panels Alliance advertises near to where it goes into the underbelly, great....

And this is what is under the nice access panel...

That triangle isn't big enough to get my hand through. And it looks like the underbelly fasteners are not easily removable.

that is not typical of alliance. i'd get on the phone and follow up. i also would suspect that alliance won't be able to start advising you are changing you electrical system because of liability issues.

Clay, What are you planning to run off the inverter? I have not removed the panel to look at how Alliance wired the Inverter Circuit. I have checked (by turning off the inverter breaker) what it feeds. Inverter circuit feeds outlets in the bedroom, end of the island and tv outlets. Actually that is plenty for what we would ever use. It does not include the microwave, but the wife only really cares about using a hair dryer and a coffee maker when boon-docking.

I received my recall notice from Alliance today. I am in hopes that they will let me do my own breaker swap under the recall and certify the repair. I have issues with hauling this to the dealer over an hour away and waiting their allowed 3 days to perform the breaker swap. I can do it in a few minutes.

My wife and I frequently work from the trailer and want the outlets by the kitchen table, sofa, and at least one in the pass through (for starlink) working. Having 3 plugs in the bedroom on inverter is useless to us especially with 12v powered USB plugs by the bed.

The flex conduit is really short, it ends just past the front compartment in the underbelly.

I have a 390MP Paradigm. Inverter powers sofa outlet. Island GFI outlet Living room and bedroom TV.
I added outlet for microwave. I also have the power strip shown in the photo below plugged into sofa outlet,
so its also powered by the inverter.

Well I finished. The wires are wrapped in electrical tape in numerous places, so there is no chance of using the original cable to pull the new ones. I peeled back the underbelly to run the new cable. I was able to pull back the 20 amp cable from the inverter to the outlets to the sub-panel I added. I now have the original inverter circuit, one marked general, and the GFCI in the sub-panel backed by the inverter. This makes almost all of the outlets in my trailer on inverter.
