Anode Rod

We can not get the anode rod loose ...it must have been put on with an impact wrench or Hercules himself...suggestions ???

I suggest you do the following:
- Use a 1-1/16” socket with a 1/2” drive
- Use a 9” to 12” extension
- Use a 1/2” drive socket wrench
- Place the socket firmly onto the anode rod end, push in firmly while trying to loosen it

Using the extension helps you get your hands further away from the water heater so you can get a better grip on the tools and put all your strength into it.

While I’ve never heard of anyone doing so, you might end up having to try some penetrating oil or similar substance in any thread that is exposed near the nut end of the anode rod.

Finally, make sure the water supply to the RV is off and both the propane and AC water heater switches are off and that you have removed pressure from the water heater tank by either opening a hot water tap or opening the pressure relief valve near the top of the water heater.
