Adjusting New Break Pads and Break gain on my 2024 295MK?

I have a couple of questions about adjusting the new brakes on my Trailer. On a previous post I explained that my bearings blew and contaminated my breaks! May have been that way all along or for at least a yearThat said now my new breaks don’t feel the same? What is the procedure for getting the trailer gain set correctly again?

I used to just start out going about 10mph and squeeze my trailer breaks in the truck at +2.5 gain and I could feel the trailer grab And slow us down. Now with the new break pads that are not fouled with grease they don't grab and slow me at+2.5 gain? What to do? Do I just keep increasing the gain and testing or is this just how new good breaks should feel? I have had fouled breaks since I bought the trailer I think. I don’t know what normal feels like?

Suggestions about how it should go are helpful!

Thanks

Rider, in this case, I would start by double-checking that the installer adjusted them properly at each wheel.
Basically lift the wheel off the ground, and turn the star wheel adjuster while turning the wheel until you feel and hear a lite dragging and rubbing sound.

Once basic adjustment is confirmed to be good, your process is sound, just ensure you controler in the truck is set for electric brakes(in your case, magnetic brakes) and keep increasing the gain setting until you almost slide the trailer wheels.
It would not be unusual to experience some early life break in wear as the new pads match themselves to the drum surface.
Sometimes, the manual star adjuster needs a little help .

Rider,

Be sure to burnish the brakes in and then you can adjust the gain correctly. If already done, disregard my suggestion. It gets the drum brakes bedded or seated against the drums and takes off any manufacturing residue. See link below.
