26RD with Half Ton

Looking at possibly purchasing an Avenue All Access 26RD. I have a 2012 F150 with a payload capacity of 1,900#. We would have about 350# in passengers. Although I believe I would not go over the rated payload weight, what’s the risk in cutting it this close?

I used to tow a 7,500-pound bumper tow with a half ton pickup. When I would go down steep hills my brakes would heat up, sometimes to the point that they were barely working.

The 26RD has a pin weight of 1,350 pounds. So you are probably OK there. The next question would be the towing capacity of your truck, and how close the trailer weight (7,800 dry/9,995 GVWR) comes to your towing capacity. That is where braking could become a concern.
