23ml build mistakes

Once again manufacturers need to be users of there RVs. Hopefully Alliance will look at this post and like the ideas and make the appropriate changes.
1. The thermostat in the bedroom is almost directly under the A/C unit thus the air blowing on the sensor will not keep the A/C from running properly. This is also true for the heat duct which is on the bottom of the wall below it. By placing the thermostat on the side wall the A/C and heat would cycle better when conditions are met for each
2. It is ALMOST impossible to connect a heated hose to the fitting coming up from the hole. It took 3 tries to make it fit. I believe a normal hose would have almost the same issues. A hole on the other side would solve this problem and the hose wouldn't be kinked reducing the flow into the camper. The grey tank release handle could be moved over to the right one slot allowing for a much easier connection.
Just my thoughts

We are in the process of selling our 22ml to purchase the 23ml and have some questions for you. First I see your problems, we have never had need for a heated hose and have not run into your problems. A solution might be to run copper or pex up to the top of the panel across the top and down anchoring it to the wall. This would give you almost a straight shot to your heated hose. My question is does that thermostat control the heat for the living space also? On the 22ml the heater thermostat is in the living space. Appreciate any other comments you might have.

That's strange, the heat thermostat should be by entrance as well as the main ac thermostat. The only thing in the bedroom should be for ac

If someone finds something different let me know. Unless they mounted it inside a cabinet there is nothing in the main coach area..

The camper has the updated Furrion chill cubes that do now have heaters built into them. They are strictly A/C units. I reached out to Alliance to have my question answered but as of yet have not gotten a reply. Realize if you sleep with the bedroom door closed the thermostat will only regulate the furnace for that room. With the warm air rising from the lower wall duct to the sensor on the bottom of the thermostat the heat does not stay on. Also, the main living area stays cold since no heat is getting into that area since it isn't running. The difference in the temperature is dramatic not 5 or 6 degrees but 20 or more. In the arctic blast we had last week it was horrible. Once I hear from Alliance I will post there reply.

I'm doing a little guessing here, assuming the living space AC is using a remote control to operate and that the bedroom thermostat does not control the living room AC? Does the bedroom thermostat automatically switch from AC to furnace to control the temperature? I would be real tempted to add a thermostat for the furnace around the entry door and disconnect the furnace from the bedroom thermostat leaving the bedroom AC connected, possibly moving that thermostat around the corner to the entrance. Repeating myself we are interested in the 23ML.

The living room uses a remote control device to power the A/C. The bedroom controls the bedroom A/C and the furnace. When I get time in the spring I will see about moving the thermostat down into the living area and using the bedroom switch just for the A/C. I believe the thermostat wiring is thru the basement up the wall and hope it's not with through the ceiling.
Here is the kicker. When we looked at the earlier model it had the Coleman Mach systems in it and the thermostat was above the control panel. Alliance changed everything over to Furrion and did not think this through. We also wanted the refrigerator with the freezer on top but this unit and all the newer ones are coming with the French door refrigerator. Speaking only for us, a French door refrigerator in this RV is not a good fit. This RV is a good trailer but I should have followed my own advice and never buy a model that is new to the market. I always wait to they work out the bugs.

We've had a refer door fall off was not a fun experience, hoping the two doors dividing the weight on hinges will hold up better. It was a Norcold.

Good morning. I said I'd wait to post anything further on this topic until I heard from Alliance or the dealership but it's now been two weeks and neither has gotten back to me with an answer. Although I've been persistent calling and leaving my message to voicemail. In today's world I guess trying to find a person to answer a question is tougher than I thought. I'd ask Google but she sends me down the rabbit hole.
To bring you back up to date, I wanted to know about the thermostat that is in the bedroom and why it isn't in the main living area since that is where the heat is really needed. Having only a thermostat in the bedroom plus being directly above the heating duct is not ideal nor does it work like it was intended. After having this camper for three weeks now and camping in very cold climates things just aren't up to par. The living area continues to remain very close to freezing and the bedroom might as well be a sauna. The ceramic box heaters in the living area cannot keep up with the cold and I may need to open an account with the local electricity company since the meter is spinning faster than a UFO in flight. I will finish my job this weekend and head home with camper in tow and see if I can relocate the thermostat to someplace where it is manageable or this might be the shortest purchase I've ever owned. This is definitely a deal breaker and others should be aware of this issue if you plan on using the furnace on any trip... Once again if I ever hear from anyone I will post there reply.

Travel Time,

Did you email your request to service@alliancerv.com? Make sure to put the last six digits of your VIN# in the email. They are very responsive and get back to you pretty quickly.

Good luck and hope this helps,

I emailed them, got a case number and even a person to talk to. Same person I've been leaving voice mails. Honestly it should be a walk over to the production floor or to the design and layout area and ask the question.
My guess is they did NOT think this through when they switched from the Coleman Mach units which have the thermostat by the entry door on the control panel to the Furrion Chill Cube system which have the thermostat in the bedroom.

Ok. Well I guess I got my answer. "If anyone reading this is interested in purchasing the 23ML" know this you will have to do work to get heat in the main living area or carry blankets and space heaters if you plan on camping in the winter and you have the Furrion Chill Cubes (Coleman system does have a thermostat on the control panel).
Since my wife likes the camper I will try and re route the furnace wires to a dedicated thermostat in the main living area that will control the furnace and the controls in the bedroom will only control the A/C.
Again, I hope this post helps others that may be in the market for this unit. This is a MAJOR design flaw. Attached is the response from Alliance. The wording after controls the back a/c and the furnace should have said controls the bedroom a/c and furnace.

Since the RV has been put in storage while I'm moving job sites I've been researching fixes and solutions for the thermostat. I've actually spoken with others that have similar issues and found a discussion on the Brinkley forum site that addresses the same issue. I can't get to the RV until April or May but thinking about how to handle the problem. Here is a clip for a post on the Brinkley page. I removed the posters name just so they wouldn't be harmed.

We were at a show yesterday talking to an Alliance tech about the furnace control in the bedroom. He maintained that they thought it was the correct way to do it reasoning being that the bedroom need to be warm. I expressed my opinion that I would rather have a cold bedroom than a cooled living area.

When looking in the pantry I noticed an access hatch held on by 4 screws that could be used to get to the furnace. I pointed it out to the service manager who said they would run the new wires and put a new thermostat adjacent to the remote for the living area remote AC control. Service manager agreed it was an easy fix. All I had to do was sign for the new 23ML lol.
