I carry all kinds of spare parts, but failed to have spare toilet parts. Today the toilet (dometic 310) decided the bowl seal was in need of repair and would no longer hold water. I've seen this over and over on YouTube, but it never "clicked" in my mind to actually buy a spare.
While inspecting the toilet, we also noticed a tiny leak coming from the foot pedal. So small, that it never tripped my water alarm behind the toilet. The water would circle the toilet and must have gone under?? This is caused by the valve that opens when you flush toilet started to fail.
So, we had to drive ~40 miles each way from our boondocking site to a town with RV parts. Yea...I paid waaay more than I should of, but simple supply/demand equation kicked into high gear.
I also had to shoot over the local Ace Hardware to get the silicon grease for the rubber seal. I now have both of these (the grease is enough for YEARS!) in my Amazon cart and will have them delivered when we get closer to home.
Rubber seal over toilet flapper
Water Valve to flush/fill toilet.
Silicone Grease fo rubber seal
You can of course buy the lower cost water valve, but I HATE water/plumbing and don't want to save a few $$ to have water damage later.
