Star Link Mini Mount

Well picked up a star link mini. Not sure where I need to mount it. Thought about just laying it in the back of the truck. Really don’t want to put it on top of the camper.

Any body know how far the built in router reaches?

Started to make a mount for the fifth wheel to get it above the cab. But does it need to be above the cab to work?

No idea what I’m doing but at certain campgrounds out t mobile internet does not work.

I love mine. I mounted mine on the back ladder. I also used it on my back deck railing, during the most recent ice storm. I also have the sunroof suction cup mount, for driving down the road and it works great. I have also parked my truck in a less obstructed area and the wireless built in router performed well. I have not tested how far away can can park and still get get wifi

There are videos of how it works. It is super easy and simple to install. Poles come with a carry bag.

While we're on it...
I have a legacy Starlink, with the larger, articulating antenna and a separate router unit. As far as my Avenue being "pre-wired for Starlink", does that only work for a specific type (one with antenna and router as a single unit)? If I run the cable from my antenna on the pole to the "pre-wired" outlet in the basement, where does that go? And where does my router plug in?
Also, why is there a cable TV connection next to the bed when there's already one up where the TV will actually mount?

I have the Standard and am pretty particular about aiming it. My friend has the mini. He eyeballs north and drops it on the ground. It works fine for him. They apparently have decent range because he shares it with others of our group sometimes.
As far as it needing to be above the roof of the truck, probably not but why would you want to mount it to the truck unless you camp and never leave? It has a 120º viewing angle tilted 20º from horizontal. The app will show you obstructions once you're setup for an hour or so.

Not sure why I would want it in the truck. Just figures I could move the truck some to get it in a better less obstructed spot. Also I figured you would take it down if you was leaving the campground. I have never paid any attention to what or how people in the campgrounds deploy or use a starlink. My T Mobile is easy, plug it in and turn it on. Starlink is all new to me.

It looks like you are proficient with PVC ingenuity. We had a friend who built a magnetic mount from PVC and simply stuck it on the power pedestal. It was convenient because power was immediately available from the pedestal. But, that aside, a mag mount opens up a lot of possible locations for mounting.

Well thanks everyone for sharing. I appreciate the info. Going to shorten it down and figure out a magnetic base and install a pole buddy on the ladder. Pole Buddy should be nice most of the time and a small magnetic base should work in a lot of unique ways. I guess when all else fails I just drop it on the ground.

I no longer have a Alumiduty F350 so a magnet will also stick the Ram.

FWIW...I bought the flag pole buddy about 2 years ago...and have used it once. Starlink mini comes with a 15 meter cable, so you can put it just about anywhere around your RV. The coverage from the mini is great...never an issue with it being too far from RV. I find a place and just put it on the ground. Wait a few mins...open the app and it will tell me how to align for best performance. If I'm in an RV park and like to look around to see if other RV's have a starlink and see which way they have it pointed.

They are useless to someone else but, if stolen, you're still out the cost of the antenna. However, I have never heard of anyone that has had one stolen. So far, I have had my antenna on the ground and on an adjustable height pole mount with no issues. Pole Buddy is nice but limits you to length of sections vs the infinite adjustment. Some use a tripod, but I have seen the wind blow them over and the surface material of the antenna is soft and easily marred.

Tweakers know what they can and can't sell. Startlink Mini (or any version) is worthless to them.

A Starlink mini's default connection is one cable. This connects to the Mini and to the AC power plug. You can change this to simply run off DC power, by installed in upconverter to go from 12v power from RV to 36v (still DC of course). I did this in our RV and helped (ie...meang I did it while they watched) for 4 others friends RV. Now the mini will only pull about 20 watts of DC power.

There are zero cable running inside the RV, other than the AC power plug. The mini is everything in one device. It will broadcast WiFi all around your RV.

Now, there are solutions that can create an ethernet cable coming out the mini, if you want to connect it to the WAN port on something like a PepLink. I use my Peplink to bond our AT&T hotspot with Starlink for increased connectivity. However, the Peplink device is a whole other topic and setup issue/thread.
