B&W Companion hitch

So it sounds like I found the answer to the question I was about to ask...a B&W Companion for my 2023 F350 SRW CC is the general consensus? I'm very close to pulling the trigger on ordering a new Avenue 30BH. I will have to install the puck system, since it doesn't have it from the factory, but I think that will be money well spent since it makes things such a "plug-and-play" operation, no matter what setup I choose.
The specs say the trailer will be roughly 12k gross, but is there any drawback to getting one that is considerably over-rated like the 25k one y'all were talking about above (would it be too stiff, etc.)? Or better to stick with one more closely matched to the actual weight I'll tow? I just never know if I may decide to go with a bigger 5 down the road...
Specs show the trailer will have the "Rota-Flex" pin. Any yeas or nays on that? The Helux looks significantly more substantial, but is that worth swapping right away? Or any chance they'd install that one for me if I have one built? ;)
I’m selling my B&W Companion Slider and Curt Helux Pin. It is for the F350 puck system. The slider base is brand (used a few times only)new as B&W replaced it under warranty. The head was first used in June of 2025. The Curt Helux was also first used in 2025 and was taken off in November. Anyhow, happy to discuss it if you like. I’m a trustworthy guy. Happy to vide conference you so you can get a close inspection from afar.

Aways going with a bigger hitch capacity/tow capacity.

If you change RV for a bigger pin weight. No need to buy another hitch.

I have the B&D, love it, not going to break it, 25000lb rating

I don't think I'd need the slider version if I have a longbed, correct? From what I've read here it's a lot heavier, but if the price is right...
Are you saying you have a Helux pinbox you don't use? Why did you take it off and what did YOU switch that out to?

Nope...Just took it out to load stuff to take to my son....needed the entire bed of the truck. That is why I love it...so easy to take in/out.
Gotcha! Although my Hensley BD-5 trailersaver is a brute to remove…..(how would I know, I NEVER take it out) I like it and am not changing for anything else. Price I paid to buy it drove my decision on that one, but I had been eyeing them for a couple years. Gen Y or Reese goose box were both options I had considered but couldn’t justify the cost and the fact that I would have a pin box laying around that nobody wanted. All told, I have $500 bucks in my BD-5 that I purchased used/like new-6 mos old, then sold my factory mopar 30k for $800. I had a demco auto slide in my 2500 and hated that thing….worked fine but required fairly straight line hook-ups and plates. Sold that thing after a couple seasons. Always liked the looks of the B& W but never worked into my rotation of wheelin n dealin.

The price will be right. And no, you do not need a slider. Yup. I have a Helux and I loved it. It’s also for sale. We went to the Gen Y hitch because I need/want the bed, despite being a three car my garage is filled with cars, motorcyles, generators, etc.

Get an engine jack stand, you can take it out or nstall it with no problem. About $ 200 bucks, we'll worth it. No need to ask the neighbor anymore

Is the Helux pin better than the Rota-Flex it (Avenue 30BH) would come with? I might be interested if I actually order this one

Subjective. I love the Helux. My buddy is a very experienced RVer. He has had about 6 5th wheels and more hitches than that and he says it’s the best towing setup he’s ever had.

Ok. When I spoke with a rep yesterday (thank you, Matt @ Alliance!!), he said if that was what I wanted, to let him know at order time and he could probably make it happen! Unbelievable that I could actually talk to a human and they'd be willing to make a one-off adjustment...and not just tell me to pound sand! Sounds like I'm probably going to have to figure out how to PM someone (M and E), for that B&W, whether I get the Alliance OR the Cougar (still on the short list). And I may or may not need that Helux pin as well? Depends if I order, accept the one the local dealer has on hand or go with the Cougar.

With no selectable options to speak of, is there any advantage to ordering the Alliance? Other than it sitting on the local lot for a couple of months? I know this last question might belong elsewhere...
