Observable Indications of Slide Failures

I am relatively new to RVing and knew that slides are somewhat problematic going into ownership. In many systems, RV or otherwise, there are audible/visual/[physical observations that are made indicating a likely impending failure. I do not know what those observations are when considering the different slide systems (cable, hydraulic, R&P, etc.). Anyhow, what I'm asking for is input from the group for those observations that indicate a failure and maybe also those which are normal but often raise concerns for the uninitiated. I've used a couple of GPT tools but really want to know from experienced multi-system owners. Thanks in advance if you all feel up to sharing! if anyone feels like sharing their slide maintenance protocols, I'd love that too ( i enjoy maintenance...it's like a competition for me to get longevity out of my stuff)

For our 2023 340RL, with Schwintek bedroom slide system, we were told to hold the button down an additional 2 seconds when using the slide. We do this while bring the bedroom in and out. This is suppose to keep the slide motors in sync with each other. Knock on wood, we have never had an issue with the Schwintek slide in this RV or our prior RV (also with Schwintek slide in bedroom)

I was told to hold switch 5 seconds. So far so good. I will say I hear positive things happening by holding switch longer
