Slide Topper?

Hi, we just purchased an Avenue 25ML and was trying to decide whether to install a Lippert Topper on our slide out. Our previous Lance Travel Trailer had a slide topper, and it worked to keep the debris off the slide but would flap in the wind at times, which was annoying, sometimes resulting in either closing the slide or rigging a water "noodle" and rope to reduce the flap. Anyone have experience with the Lippert Slide Topper on their Alliance rigs and willing to share? How does it do in the wind? Thanks in advance! Mark

Hello Mark,
I do not know how things work on the 25ml but we have a 23ml and the slide-out cover was a must when we spec'd out the trailer earlier this year. Yes, you hear the wind buffet the cover accasionally but if it saves me from climbing on the roof to brush off debris (leaves, branches, pine cones) it's worth it. Another benefit is NO water is brought into the trailer. I believe are cover is "Solara"? Hopefully this helps.

We had 3x slide toppers on our 340RL and took them off due to so much noise from wind. We had phyical "Slide Toppers" installed instead. Here is my video on the process and how it looks/preforms now. I will NEVER have the fabric slide out topper again...we love this new way.

Very Cool Jim,
I have always been an anti topper guy. But those true toppers are very interesting

I have a 259MK. I have slide toppers. They are a must IMHO. No water, less dust, No Leaves.

I'm in the anti slide topper camp. Toppers create as many problems as they resolve.
Yes they do keep top of slides clean.
However they flap and make noise in the wind and pool water in the rain.
They are more trouble than they are worth

I not necessarily anti-slide topper, but I think they are just another item that can fail or cause issues. I am not personally worried about getting on the roof or having to clean the slides off the old fashion way. I’ve used old shop vac extensions to create an extension for my blower. I could blow off the tops from the ground pretty well.

The True Topper video looks very interesting, a something to consider. Thanks everyone for the great, although divided, opinions on slide toppers!

You will NOT be disappointed in True Topper solution. We had them installed in March and then in Aug we went on a trip in Washington (the state) and we had 2 nights of 55+mph wind gusts and we slepts like babies with NO awning creeeeekkkkkking sounds.
