Ford Super Duty Trailer Camera Cable Routing

I have a Valor 44v14 and installed the GM trailer camera. I wanted a clean/professional look and received the associated headaches to go along with that. I installed at the top of the rear wall, ran the cable along the roof, down the preinstalled wire chase and through the front compartments. Then out the pin box. Couple issues i ran into were 1) the wire chase does not exit in the pass through, it exited behind the water heater in a place pretty hard to access. Hopefully your rig is different. 2) the connector for the truck was large and hard to fish through places. I found out later that these could be removed but only after heating them up as they are glued from the factory. Good luck!

Can you tell me how you secured the camera cable to the roof please?
My kit came with these but I bought more as I didn't have enough:

That stinks on the chase being located in a bad location. Mine goes behind the water panel.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Those are similar to what I was looking for but with VHB adhesive backs.

I’m glad I’m a nerd. I checked the compatibility of VHB adhesion promoter with flexible PVC material that is on our roofs. Not an absolute no-no but we should be using 111 promoter on our roofs. It creates a barrier that prevents softening of the PVC.

I wanted to give everyone another option. I have a 2024 F450 and 2025 310RL and wanted to hardwire Fords accessory trailer camera. I decided to go through the under belly on the road side of trailer. Then I ran wire under vinyl trim on rear body and roof. Was able to fish wire out the original rear camera prewire opening. Everything came out really clean with no exposed wiring.

I removed vinyl insert and replaced original trim screws with flat head screws to make more room for wiring

I drilled through sidewall and trim. I added heat shrink to wiring where it passes through this area for extra protection

By removing center marker light I was able to fish camera cable to original backup camera prewire location. I did have to enlarge the prewire opening to fit Fords Trailer camera.

I sealed up both areas with silicone and reinstalled vinyl insert

Final install of Fords camera is really clean. This is Fords 2nd generation Trailer camera that came out mid 2024. Its much smaller and better quality picture than 1st generation camera.
