50/30 Amp Shore Power Plug Removal Tool

This is something I came up with to help me disconnect my 50 Amp cord from my Surge/EMS protector. It's a cheep DIY and makes it much easier to disconnect the male Plug from female receptical. When you see this made by Camco, remember you say my version here first. Think of the royalties. Parts can be picked up at any hardware store.1000000121.jpg1000000106.jpg1000000116.jpg1000000117.jpg1000000113.jpg1000000114.jpg1000000115.jpg

This is the main reason to have a hardwired surge suppressor, You set it up one time and you never have to touch it again vs. the portable type that you handle each trip.
Not only do I not want to deal with separating/unplugging my surge protector from the RV cord. I don't even want to get it out, put it away or handle it at all.

I have an issue separating the two plugs too. I will use your idea for sure. Already have round wood stock. Thanks for sharing.

My issue with hardwired watchdog is if a RV park has a minor issue, it never connects (red face). No way to by pass it. Just saying!

My hardwired progressive unit has a by pass switch. If I need to by pass just hit the switch.

Or, perhaps, never remove it from the power cord? I have left mine on for 5+ years now.

YMMV.

Good luck and have fun.

I though about that as well. But the 50 amp cord is already heavy enough without adding anything to it.
But Leaving it attached is certainly an option.

Well, I cannot pick up the entire cord, so I only pick up "some" of it at a time. For example, I unplug from pedestal, and while still holding the EMS, I put it into the "basement". Then I drag up cord 3 or 4 feet at a time until I got most of it in, then I unplug from the RV and put the last bit in. It has worked for me at least, and can be an option.
