Battery Box modification

So I re-filling my NEW to me first time Alliance owner 29RL, The Battery box sure like like a set up for failure to me. I cut down a $2 plastic box, and used 3" nasscar duct Tape to secure the box over the exposed battery terminals. Now I can sleep. (I used the battery wrenched for props, they are stored properly)

I think they leave them exposed so you can jump off them if need be? Not sure?
