Max air fans

Anybody have an auxiliary cover over your max air mini low profile fans that come on the valors? If so what are you using, I like to have an extra layer of protection if possible.

I also have the same cover in white. The easy clip system made it a breeze to install. Had to take a Phillips screw driver to clean the lap sealant out of the hole that the pins slide through. Literally took about one minute to install. I also wanted the extra protection against hail having lived in Colorado for years.
The EZ Clip system did not work on our Renegade. We had top drill the frame of the fan and screw in the cover. The cover had a couple of different options for installation.

Not that our rig is a valor, but we went with the MaxxAir II as it is supposed to allow greater airflow than the others and I prefer the seemingly more secure mounting method compared to others. Still only a few minutes to install.

I have used the max air 2 on other campers but was concerned with how airflow would be affected, if at all. I may just use some flex seal tap on them to guard against hail impact damage. I have used that method in the past as well.

I like that idea. I think I'll do that as well for a little extra insurance.

When you say you were concerned with how airflow might be affected, can you explain? Sincere question...still learning.

Edit: I know what flex seal is but how are you using it to prevent hail damage? Sorry for all the questions!

The max air minis are very low profile, like maybe 4” tall? Not really sure what the point of them was as the a/c units are much taller. Think of the tape as a sort of insulation/buffer to hail. It also helps to shield plastic from UV rays. In fact, when I recoated roof on my last unit, I did the bath skylight. It cut down on the light intrusion to my bedroom, was much quieter, and lots cooler. We experienced some baseball sized hail in 2023, and I don’t care to go through that again. These are the pics I could find.IMG_5048.jpeg that again. IMG_2647.jpeg

Man, I must seem like a dufus! Some folks here in Florida do that to their sunroofs. I was thinking that the Flex Seal would have been applied to the add-on cover (for airflow without water intrusion). Thank you for sharing that and sorry that happened to you all. I'm not sure I could seal over that cover (I like keeping a stock aesthetic on my vehicles). But that sure makes sense to reduce heat transfer.
