50 amp power cord failed. Where can I order another one? I like the 45 degree angle on the current cord that attaches to the trailer.
What was the failure? I think mine failed too as there is no power. The outlet shows that it is working normally. The fault detector on the cord shows an open ground. It was working fine for almost a year.50 amp power cord failed. Where can I order another one? I like the 45 degree angle on the current cord that attaches to the trailer.
You could test your cord out with a Volt Ohm meter to see if the ground, neutral, L1 and L2 are intact. What was the failure? I think mine failed too as there is no power. I hear what you are saying. For us, a partially melted plug was enough to tip the scale;. We only had one other cord with a with 50amp twist lock female cord for 30 amp service. Swapped that for a SmartPlug end as well. Everything else we have is on the pedestal side so it didn't matter. My biggest issue with Smart plug is I would no longer be able to use the various 50 amp cords and adapters I already own.
Smartplug does make connecting easier however the exiting twist on system is still viable.
Yes you do have to take your time and be sure to secure locking nut when attaching twist on cord
You can consider the islewire extension cord, which is of good quality
Didn't we discuss this before and it turns out you have adaptors that connect to at the RV vs what I have where the power adaptors (50 to 30...50 to 15...etc) are all connected at the shore plug. Thus I don't have this issue with our SmartPlug, but you would??My biggest issue with Smart plug is I would no longer be able to use the various 50 amp cords and adapters I already own.

For sure, each one is on their own on this one. Certainly there are scenarios where there are advantages to have the adapter’s at either end of your cord.Didn't we discuss this before and it turns out you have adaptors that connect to at the RV vs what I have where the power adaptors (50 to 30...50 to 15...etc) are all connected at the shore plug. Yep...that would be a clear case for adaptors at the RV. I had a 50 amp outlet installed (about where I have the blue arrow) in our "barn" when we had it built, so the Smart Plug is perfect for us.For sure, each one is on their own on this one. For example, pre trip, we run a heavy duty extension cord from the garage (15 amp) out to the coach and use a 15 to 50 adapter to power the coach and ensure that the fridge is powered by the converter. I see the benefit as not having to drag out the 50 amp cord to power the coach with the adapter on the other end.
I certainly see the benefits of the smart plug and like the way it is designed , but for me and our processes, I have to side with Lantley on this one. Options are what makes the world go round!
