Wood splitting?

I'm not at all a handy person or know the correct term for some things, that said I've got a wood panel that split today. We're full timers in a 2023 Paradigm 395DS. Today, I was sitting in our living room area when I heard a loud 'POP'. I thought it had come from outside. Looking around I found that the wood panel at the end of our sink/island has split in the middle from top to bottom.
Has anyone seen this before? It's kind of hot in south MS but I've been running our A/C non stop. No water that I've seen, just not sure how this happened.

It looks to me that the joint has come apart as the edges look clean, I can't tell from the pictures if the wood has warped/bowed. Wood be interested to know if you press inward on both sides of the split if the gap closes? If it closes with pressure it maybe possible to glue it back together in place. If you are still under warrantee you should send the pics to Alliance and see if they will send you to a cabinet maker close to you, if not you may have to find one yourself. I'm only pointing you to a cabinet maker because you have stated you are not handy.

I am interested in the construction aspect of the island. Looking at the 3 points circled, something certainly moved. Out of curiosity, Has the slide out furniture, ever made contact with the Island? If not, are the attachment screws on the inside wood pieces exposed or sheared? That's a lot of movement for a hardwood crack. It looks under stress even now. The glue at the joint obviously failed at the top of the panel. Trees don't grow perfectly straight, so it can be said that all wood is technically grown warped and then planed down. I would be curious to know how this turns out. Maybe a lesson learned is coming my way. Best of luck!

I've pressed on it, it won't budge. I've contacted Alliance but we're a bit out of warranty. I'll see what they suggest. I appreciate the cabinet shop idea.

I've never noticed the slide touch the counter. There's a small gap usually. We haven't moved since April. My wife has to have jaw joint replacement soon and we're staying close to family. We're level, no movement that I've seen.

I don't see any exposed screws attaching the panels. I'm sure they're there, just well hidden.

Is there something on the inside of the cabinet behind the split like a wood strip fastened to the two panels that would keep it from closing when you press on the panels. It almost looks like something hit the inside of the cabinet panel possibly even during construction weakening the joint. I'm trying to figure out if a handyman with a couple of bar clamps could put in back together.

The board is warped from the edges to the center where it split. The center is raised up a good bit. There's a wooden cover over the back side of the panel, that isn't split. Behind the panel is the area beneath our sink. Nothing has hit it, we haven't moved since April. There's a small wire shelf next to the panel where we store cleaning supplies. That shelf wasn't disturbed when I looked. I've sent pics to Alliance customer service, I'll wait to see what they say. I have noticed the heat that comes from under the sink and all the counters in our kitchen. Must not be any insulation down there. I might try to fix that too.

I'm guessing, that the warped panel was attached to the cabinet as decoration. I would contact Alliance/cabinet manufacturer to see if it is possible to remove the warped part and if they can send you a replacement. The only way I can see for it to warp like that is moisture.

We're in coastal Mississippi, where it's hot and humid. I empty my two dehumidifiers a couple of times a week. I'll see what Alliance comes back with and update the thread.
