Towing over capacity behind 5th wheel

Touchy subject I'd have to guess, but...... Our SxS and trailer come in at exactly 3,500lbs. Official towing capacity behind our rig shows 3,000lbs, as does every other 5th wheel I've ever seen/looked at. Every time I'm towing, I will see at least 1 rig that HAS to be towing over 3,000lbs behind their 5th wheel. I've seen some pretty hefty looking loads behind 5th wheels. So the question is to tow or not to tow. Is it safe to be 500lbs over what's stated as the capacity? Is there anything that can be done to make it safe if it's not?

Well, you will be ~17% over towing limits, so the decsion is yours. I don't think I would do it. I wonder how easily an insurance company could deny a claim if you are knowingly towing over your limits.

Once you knowingly exceed the stated limits. The safety and accountability is on you.
Regardless of what you do or who you talk to the risk and responsibility is fully on you.
With that in mind you are as safe as you believe you are.

Just today, my wife saw a truck pulling a Solitude which was flat-towing a Jeep. 😳
If that's the setup I wanted, I would check with a professional chassis/trailer shop to see whether it's possible to add reinforcements to bring the capacity beyond what I need. But, as others have said, that still might not be good enough to satisfy an insurance company in a liability situation.

I wonder why, when searching for insurance claim denied for being overweight, all that appears are warnings that insurance won't cover you? No actual reports of someone that was denied a claim.

When you slam in the brakes, and you think of everyone in your truck, are you satisfied with your decisions?

And what happens if Alliance sees this and you have a warranty claim?
They will fix it. I'm asking questions, not stating I am/have done this. They can't deny a warranty claim just because I asked a question on a forum, and they certainly can't deny a claim because I've asked a question, and my receiver looks brand new because it has never been used.
I figured this would be a touchy subject. I'm merely asking thoughts, and I'm not even sure I'd be comfortable double towing like this even if I were within the factory specs. I've just been amazed at how many rigs I see that have to be towing over capacity and if that was just a normal thing.
