Tow Vehicle for Avenue 32RLS

Appreciate the passion on the subject. When buying the 32RLS the reseller sales rep AND the manufacturer rep said 3/4 ton is more than adequate. I said I don't have the truck yet, guide me correctly. They still said 2500. Review of specs (mainly payload) and your input here on this forum guided me to 1-ton. I did test drive a dually. Can’t lie, it was very cool driving. As the truck is also my daily driver, I went SRW. Things like fitting garage and parking have nothing to do with towing - but was important to me. Grateful for all the comments. Thank you!

Which brand of vehicle did you decide to purchase?

I went with a 2024 Ram 3500 Laramie w 6.7L I6 Cummins Turbo Diesel HO/Aisin HD transmission

I'm not trying to talk you into a dually. But just know I drive my dually all day everyday. It is not just my tow vehicle.
I drive thru 2 different bank drive thrus regularly. Some drive thrus are too tight but most I can get in
I go to big box stores all over town and have no issues parking. The parking issues occur with multi level parking lots.
Small towns and urban areas can be tough parks but that is more due to length than width. My dually is no wider than your SRW mirrors.
I challenge you to find a spot where your SRW will fit and my dually won't. It's length that's the issue not the hips!
Lastly and this is the "A Ha" moment that you can only experience first hand.
You are totally comfortable with your SRW, however you cannot fathom the dually towing improvement until you tow with the dually.
The handling and braking improvement will change your perspective on the SRW truck.
The bigger the trailer the bigger the more noticable the improvement. Again I'm not suggesting you need a Dually I have no idea of your towing parameters.
But I am confident if you were to tow your current rig with a dually you would notice an improvement.
If you never drank milk it would be hard compare it to water without trying it.
Many draw conclusions about duallies that are not based on first hand experience.
Much like driving a diesel vs. a gas engine its that in person first hand experience that is revealing and game changing.
My comments are not really to change anyone's mind.
But I do want to state that the towing improvement of a dually is real and not imagined.
If you are content with a SRW that's totally fine. If you are looking for improvement a dually will provide it.

I didn’t go dually BUT I paid attention - the less the tow specs are crowded the better. This and other comments pushed me to a tonner without looking back.

You don't buy a truck to tow an RV and care about the mpg, it those the job. DONE

Somewhat true but I would bet that if you only got 3-4 MPG, you would care! It's not the first thing on your priority list when buying but it is very nice to get better milage than not. Lets you go further without stopping or having to put a larger gas tank in your vehicle! DONE

I don't care about MPG, it does the job
RAM 2026 3500 CREW CAB, 6.7 HO, 50 gallon tank, (very nice) 8' bed, Laramie package, all the Camara's. The new transmissionis great B&W hitch.
The 2026 is so much better that the 2022

Once you decide to play the RV game you choose a truck to safely carry,pull and stop the load. MPG's really don't enter the equation. You basically have no choice or options.
From there you may consider your fuel range. What size tank your vehicle has, and choose long bed vs. short in order to get a larger fuel tank and increase your range.
A short bed truck and long bed truck will get the same MPG, however the long bed typically has a larger fuel tank with increased capacity which will increase your range. That increased range is due to tank size not MPG. MPG is basically fixed for the size truck you need to do the job properly.
