Starlink Pre-wire

We are in the process of getting settled in our new 2026 Paradigm 310RL
While I was excited about the pre-wire for the starlink gen 3 dish, I'm now not sure I'll use it. The one data port is conveniently located in the garage. The other is located on the underside of the stand alone cabinet as you walk in the door. The ac outlet is also mounted on the underside of the cabinet.

This gives you the opportunity of locating the router and power supply either on the shelf or the counter top below. In either case, the wires for both are either in front of or handing down making a very unsightly installation.

I'm looking for suggestions/options however I'm thinking of just leaving the router and power supply in the basement. Sad not to use the port but I just can't see how to make a clean and neat install. I even thought about a wall mount kit, but decided I'd rather not drill into the back splash.

The wall mount might be best in the basement!

Thx,
Ken

The implementation of the Starlink Prep on the 370FB does not allow permanent installation as the slide would interfere with any attempt to wall mount the power supply and router.

Before we moved to a Starlink Mini (we like to boondock, so using 12v vs 120v is important) I would simply leave the Gen 3 router in the passthrough. Worked great. I used this method for Zoom/Team calls, before I retired. Never an issue with lack of coverage.

FYI...The starlink Mini, has the router built into it. I really like mine, except when trees are overhead. When I do encounter trees, I have been able to use the sunroof mount (Suction cup mount) in my truck and get a signal. I just run the cords out to my truck. I use the flag pole buddy which mounts to the ladder all other times. Works great.

We found keeping the router in the pass through is the most convenient. Our 2026 Avenue 23ML has the new Starlink connections and we have the extra short antenna cord for the inside connection, but prefer the extra counter space.

We also have Paradigm 310RL and just got the4 regular Starlink system and unpacked it. First question is - you have the satellite plate outside which I plan do, how do you run the cable into the basement without cracking door open. I guess I could drill a hole in the floor of a basement and run the cable through it, or some people run it to the other side of the basement near the "Control panel" and out the access hole.
Our RV dealer just told me that they build these coaches not with one item-product in mind. But if alliance puts starlink connectors in two places Why not make an easy pass through. Our RV dealer will only hard mount it to the roof - for $1,000. Seems quite expensive.

My second question is I guess the router can be placed on the standalone cabinet by the door or on the shelf there, but I guess the wire from the Starlink plate has to be run through the roof or down some vent if placed on the roof? Anybody have a good solution on how to set that up?
We had a King Tailgater satellite with Dish and a lot of times had to take the satellite off the roof where it was mounted and then try to place it somewhere in our campsite to avoid trees. I guess Starlink does not have as many obstructions or problems with it?
I wonder what brenkco ended up doing?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Horst

Horst,,,depending upon your model year have noticed on some of the newer models have separate PVC raceways built into their construction,,,not sure when/if/what models are/ are not included but where those are located may help a bit. Other members will be more knowledgeable & helpful info but thought I’d mention it for your consideration. Good Luck,,,👍🍀!

Yes thanks for the information, We have the 2026 310RL. I wonder if I have to talk to Alliance in order to find out if we have some of these PVC raceways. That would be good.

It is my understanding that the raceway from the roof into the interior comp area is standard equipment on the Paradigm line. Getup on roof and look for a black colored vent cap as I remember.

The PVC with black cap on roof was put there for solar wires. I guess you could run the starlink wire down that, but WOW...that would be a huge PITA to get on the roof everytime you want to use the starlink. Are you thinking of mounting it on the roof permanently? I have used my "flag pole buddy" once in 3 years. I just find a spot in camp and put starlink down on the ground. Did this with our prior Gen 3 (the one with motor) and now with our starlink mini. Now, with the mini, if I know we are driving in an area with poor cell coverage, I will bring it inside the truck and mount it to sun roof.

Jim & others,,,your approach, in my mind, is what we often see in our travels..Flexible locations, options,,,eveyone we have visited that use approach like it for the reasons you noted👍

I have the Standard Starlink, not Mini. I mounted the router and power supply on the curb side basement rear wall near the 120v outlet. I bought a much longer ethernet cable to run from there, secured it to the ceiling of the basement, and over to a spool on the road side front basement wall to wind it onto. I unwind from the spool and pass it through the hole for the fresh water hose and out to the Starlink antenna.
Probably as many ways to do this as there are users. LOL
