Shower Grab/Safety Bars

It may not look pretty, But if you used strong enough Aluminum tubing or square stock.....ran a plate on the ceiling and grab the rafters as an Anchor point....you could accomplish your goal.

Another idea, would be to install a Angle piece in 2 corners of the shower. You should be able to grab something to screw to. Then fabricate a handhold running between the two corners.

have the suction type at home and in the 310rl 5th wheel. They work fine for steadying oneself. If you are doing your morning workout in the shower, chin-ups, etc...not so god for that. Most of the time you just use them to keep your balance so not a real heavy load.
I would suggest, each time you get in a shower with the suction type to just give a gentle tug as they may lose the suction oveer time. If so, just remount it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a person who is that unsteady that they are unable to safely take a shower probably isn't RV'ing. A person that unsteady will have more challenges in the RV world than just taking a shower.
A grab bar could be useful to steady yourself as mentioned taking on your full weight is problematic I

I mentioned before, my best friend has muscular dystrophy. He's shopping for a rig now. He's finding there are many handicapped RVers, and i'm presuming many would need stuff like this. Agreed on the grab bar possibly being problematic without modification. The OPs, however,just want to stable themselves occasionally.

Actually kind of a cool thing. He needs a motorized chair most days now. He went out to Utah to see the parks (which is why he's now looking for a rig...inspired him). Before going he ordered a motorized "scooter" that can handle rough terrain and steep inclines. Not cheap but for him it was worth it. Don't get me wrong ...he was not able to do narrow switch backs or anything but he saw a lot. Funny story...the thing iskind of fun to ride. His SIL wanted to take it for a ride. Last thing he said to him was "dont wreck it". He wrecked it. $3k in damage.

I was watching a trade show highlighting new products and saw this grab pole system. I think this would fit nicely in a shower and provide true stability, if needed. It may require placing a PVC board to anchor into a rafter and spread the load on the ceiling above, but those needing this feature can decide. The grab bar, swings out of the way as well. The tension method is not spring loaded. It uses all thread and a nut to extend/tension. There is no drilling required.
