This thread is related to a modification I am considering for our 2024 251BH. The 251BH was our choice considering the ability to sleep our grandchildren and its compliance with State and National Park restrictions to 30’. Unfortunately,we have a family member who can not fit between the bench seating the the table top. And after a two week trip, we would like to increase the effective counter top area to accommodate our coffee pot and toaster oven. We’ve begun to focus on two options. Looking for any thoughts, advice or experiences that might help guide us.
Option 1: Remove the bench seating entirely and replace with a rail mounted sleeper sofa. The exterior storage box would remain and new sofa installed over the top. It doesn’t look like the removal of the storage benches would be too involved. This would get us 72” sofa seating but wouldn’t gain any counter top area for coffee maker and toaster oven.
Option 2: This one is a little more involved, and the direction most favored. Both side benches would be removed. The boxes and their doors would be placed on top of the exterior storage frame, saving the enclosed storage space(reduced in size). There would now be an open space between these two cabinets where the coffee maker and toaster oven can reside. To supply power, the GFCI circuit that runs over the top of the outside compartment would be tapped for an additional outlet. Have also considered another charging station to be flush mounted for devices and radios. To secure the coffee pot and toaster during travel, a four point net will be utilized across the opening. Two swivel chairs would be used for seating.
My concerns and questions for either option:
Does the wallpaper extend all the way to the floor behind the sidewalls of the bench seating?
Can I acquire wallpaper and covered building materials supplies if needed? It would be great to have sheets of the faux wood vinyl to cover any exposed wood.
OK fellow Alliance/Delta owners…. Your thoughts?
