New to 5th Wheeling

We recently purchased an Avenue 25ML and a couple of questions for you experienced 5th Wheelers. When our one slide is in, should there be such a large gap on the floor? The slide also appears to be angled upward, is this normal? We are heading south for our first long camping trip, but the first stop is to the dealer to lower the King Pin, so our 5th Wheel is level when riding on our truck. Until then, we didn't plan to detach while one-night stop overs. The 5th Wheel is slightly higher from front to back, should we extend our slide when camping overnight? If so, should we extend our stabilizers to the ground (not leveling)?

First, welcome to the forum. There are a lot of people here who can answer your questions. As far as the slide, yes it rides up and over the floor, so when "IN" there will be a gap, and it will have a slight angle upward.

When doing one nighters and staying connected, I would "touch" the jacks to the ground before extending the slides, especially if you are not worried about level. You do not necessarily want to put any pressure on the hitch by "lifting" your RV.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi guys, congratulations on the new rig!
When slides are in, they do sit a fair distance above the floor and store at what appears to be a angle or slope.
This is a result of the flush floor design, as you will see it drop down during the last few inches of travel while you extend it. Also, if you view the slide out from outside and side while extended, it will look tapered, this is also normal and was covered by Bill Martin in his what you know Wednesday shorts on YouTube.

As far as unhooking and slide extension, many folks do this without issue, so it becomes personal choice based on your parking conditions.

Personally, I do not extend my slides unless I am level, but hey that might be my OCD🤣

First, question? You said too the dealer, to lower the king pin to level the 5th wheel, did they not do that when you picked it up? Second, was the gag noted during the PDI, or happened after

Should have Welcomed you to the Alliance Family
