Hidden Backup Camera Switch?

We purchased a Furrion Vision S+ backup camera for our 2024 24RK Avenue and plan to use the factory wiring beneath the rubber cap that is located between the window and the high center lights on the back of the camper. Although the owner's manual has a photo of a central monitor panel with a switch labeled "camera," the panel for our 24RK looks a lot different from the owner's manual photo and does not have a switch for the camera.

Does anyone know if the camera switch on our camper is in another location? Alternatively, if the camera wiring is routed beneath the 24RK's central monitor panel, can a switch for the backup camera be added to the panel? I'm concerned that constant power to the camera will drain the battery if the power feed does not have a switch.

Hello Tom,
Would you be able to share a photo of your panel? You have a valid concern about battery drain.
Thanks for responding Bryan, a photo of my control panel is attached. Note that the slot for the kitchen lights is a "knockout," not a switch. If the camper does not come with a switch for the camera power feed, adding a switch at this location may be ideal.

My choice was to avoid the switch inside our RV and just grab power from marker light. Camera comes on when you connect truck to RV and turn your truck headlights on. Never have to remember to turn the switch on/off inside the RV.

This is a stock image of your RV and which marker light I would grab power from.

Thanks Jim. I pulled the rubber plug to access the camera's power feed, it's two wires, one white and the other red. Since the pre-wiring is routed to the camera from above, I suspect that Alliance, by design, gets the camera power feed from that same marker light. Hopefully Alliance's response to my inquiry will settle the issue. I will update this post once they respond.

I watched a couple of your videos on this same subject, they were very clear and well made. Thanks again!

The marker lights are sealed with what I assume is clear silicon, see photo below. In order to access the wiring, I assume you used a box cutter knife to cut through the silicon and a screw driver to pry off the red cap, is that correct? Once the cap is off, another of your videos showed the light fixture held to the camper exterior with a couple of screws, so the fixtures wires can be accessed by simply removing those screws and fixture. If so, it appears the camera's wires can then be fished up to the light fixture and spliced into the light fixture's wires, is that correct? Finally, do you have any recommendations for what appears to be the clear silicon once the red cap is placed back onto the light fixture?

Thanks for your help!

Once you pop the cap off, there will be 2 screws holding the marker light in place. Remove those and the silicon and it will come right off. Hook your truck to the RV...turn on light and check for which wire is POS and which is NEG. Grab a fishtape and run wire down to the camera opening. Connect wires and test camera. Mount new camera and silicon the new camera housing and the marker light....done
