Got Boogey Fever This Weekend

In the interest of improving rear end visibility of our coach, I added what I consider to be a big safety improvement.
I improved the Tail light , Turn Signal and Brake light visibility by adding a add on kit from Boogey Lights. The one I chose comes with 52 inch strips that tie into each circuit. I also added 22 inch white light strips and tied them into my back up light circuit to improve on the tiny reverse light that is part of the current light assembly.
I mounted the reverse light at the bottom, and directly beside the corner trim piece and then stacked the Tail, Turn and Brake strips directly above the new reverse lighting.

I had intended to attach a short video here, but it would appear the file is to large or my IT Skill set isn’t very good.
So, you’ll have to settle for a snap shot until I can figure out attaching the video of them working.

You're lucky to have the reverse lights already there. On our 2023 340RL, it is only brake and taillights. In my case it worked out, as I had Alliance run the reverse wire from the front to rear, when I was at the rally, having them replace my entire underbelly covering. I tapped into the 4 way plug to get my lights to work

Thanks for this. I’ve been thinking about them too and have not heard one bad thing about them. Are you happy with the amount of conspicuity they add? Would you consider another size now that you have them installed?

Two questions. How do you like the lights? Why did they have to replace the underbelly?

Hi Mike, I am extremely happy with the results. I actually followed a friend on a recent trip that had them installed at the national rally in May.
He only had the 52-inch red package installed, so I had a visual reference already and new I would be happy with the results. During my research, I had the ideal to add the 22's(White) to improve my back up lighting.

The installer at the rally, installed our friends inside the trim strip. I was going to follow suit, but after reading the instructions, the LEDS should be mounted flat. The screw heads inside the trim strip cause humps in the lighting. I went with plan B and mounted them 100% flat and directly beside the trim strip. IMHO they look just fine there.

You just have to choose your own strategy and Boogey Lights has the options to suit your needs. Check out the website https://www.boogeylights.com
They have very detailed information out there on their offerings.

They are GREAT....love having them on the RV as we carry our Moutain bikes just about everywhere we go and the bikes would block most of the factory lights.

100% my fault. I thought I had a tank leaking, so I cut into the underbelly vs dropping in via the screw/rivots. I thought I would fix it with underbelly tape, but that did NOT work. Alliance was great and replaced the underbelly for me for free.

I received a pair of Boogey Lights as a Xmas gift. I’m going to try to pop them on tomorrow.
Hi Mike, I have no reason to believe that you won’t be happy with them once installed.
It would be my opinion that all RV’s could benefit from this upgrade.
I would love to see them come installed as standard equipment from the OEM as a safety driven feature for the rear lighting strategy.
Good luck with the install!

Hey Bryan. The install should be a piece of cake, though I haven’t looked at the wiring on the rig yet (presuming it’s standard).

Could not agree more with your point on these being standard. On every motorcycle I’ve owned (in the past 12 years or so) I’ve added Admore or Whelen to the rear and Skene lights up front. Conspicuity matters ( I know we’re in agreement). Another nerd alert, but if you’re interested there is pretty interesting science behind why fast small objects, and large slow objects, become “invisible” to other drivers.

Boogey Lights

We have a house divided. I was hoping for a much more significant light output than these are producing. My wife thinks they’re great. I’m used to much brighter lights in aftermarket DOT and SAE LEDs. They’ll do the trick but could be a boatload better.

Hi Mike, the install looks great, sorry to hear your house is divided on the output.

Thanks Bryan. We actually have a lux meter somewhere in the house (kids science project from I don't even know how many years ago). Maybe I'm wrong and they're just as bright as other lights I have added to other vehicles.

I want to be clear that overall the lights are fairly well made. I'm not discouraging anyone from purchasing these lights...I am pretty critical on automotive products. I would have used 18 gauge wire if I were designing the lights. I know it's fine for the amps, and you might have to go bigger than a 1/4 inch port for through wall installations with 18 gauge. I just prefer that as my minimum for most automotive applications. I just find it easier to work with, more durable, easier to solder, etc.

Reached out to Boogey Lights. Very good customer service for sure! However, I’m not impressed with the lights. All my voltages are right and solid grounds. I really don’t think they’re great in the daylight. Better than nothing, barely and maybe, but I’d have to believe there are better options. They did say that they were mounted lower than typical. However, the manual says to mount these as close to the power source as possible, which I did. There is no mention of mounting height other than that. Anyhow, not a fan. My opinion, they should be using different LED chips (they are using 5050 LEDs, maybe 5054 would be better)...not an led expert just what I saw on the web).
