Has anyone else with the hydraulic disc brakes on their rig experienced a condition where the actuator (pump) will not run when the brake pedal, manual brake controller or breakaway pin have been activated? Ours is the Dexter model E/H 1600 actuator.
Yesterday evening we were hitching up in preparation of our trip today and the truck dash kept setting the “trailer disconnected” message, after unplugging/pluggingthe 7 pin a few times with no change I realized that I didn’t hear the actuator running when the truck brakes were on. So I opened the actuator/battery compartment and saw that the actuator had leaked (2 to 3 oz) of brake fluid onto the compartment floor as well as nor running. My troubleshooting included pulling the breakaway pin with no change in the situation, verified a good ground connection, 13.7 VDC on the constant voltage wire and proper voltage cycling on the wire sending signals from the brake controller in the truck. Is there anything to check here?
