Beware of B&W Slider with Standard Bed Chevy and Curt Pinbox (Paradigm)

Not a question here but hopefully provide useful info for anyone who searches this topic. New owner of Paradigm 310RL. Had hitch installed at Dealer (General RV) and they recommended the B&W Slider. I asked them about the need for the slider as some others said it wasn't necessary for my 2022 Chevy 3500 6 3/4' bed. They insisted it was needed for turn clearance. Found out the hard way that not only is it not needed but it won't work with the Curt Rotoflex pinbox that is standard on the Paradigm. The pinbox is fairly flat rear of the kingpin and with slider in the rear position the pinbox is about 2 inches from the tailgate and there is no turning clearance without hitting the tailgate. Therefore, if you have a 6 3/4' bed chevy (Standard bed), and have the Curt Rotoflex PinBox, and want the B&W hitch, DO NOT get the slider. You will still have 70-80 degrees of turning ability in the standard (forward) position so save your money. The B&W hitch is great in itself but the slider was a waste of $.

I looked hard at that but want to be able to remove the hitch without too much trouble. Angry at General RV because now I will go and buy the non-slider base which is WAAAY lighter and easy to remove myself. Will probably put slider base on Marketplace this spring.

The B&W standard base is defiantly a lot lighter and takes up less space.

We just did not want to forget to flip the slide lever and strike the cab/window. Autoslide move the pin back in the bed, the harder you turn the further the pin moves back, as you straighten back up the pin returns to the tow position. Peace of mind for us.

I like the weight of the Pullrite super glide. It helps in the snow with all that weight over the tires! Makes the 3500 ride like a tank!

Regarding the first comment of this thread. You did not say how the hitch is attached to truck...rails or pucks. That said, check to make sure the 5th wheel pivot arms are installed with the lean toward the cab; this is very important. I have a 2025 Silverado 3500 6 3/4' bed with B&W Slide Companion Hitch installed in pucks, Roto-Flex pin box. camper is Avenue 32rls. Just picked it up this weekend, hitched for the first time. I tested clearance in road/driving position and with hitch slid back in parking lot. I had no issues when slid back. I purchased my camper at General RV; hitch from Etrailer. I assembled hitch myself. You want the hitch as far forward / close to the cab when towing. Pivot arms can be installed leaning forward or backward. You want the pivot arms forward with lean toward cab. According to Etrailer the B&W is compatible with the Roto-Flex Pinbox…I asked them several times. I hope this helps.

Same rig, same hitch (even bought at e-trailer), same installation, same trailer. Only slide the hitch once but I do NOT remember any clearance issues. I do have my mounting arms for the hitch head set to be forward.

I’m a little late to the game here but I’m discovering that the 101” wide body certainly cuts down on the turning radius when backing up with my B&W Companion. I’ve thought about getting a B&W Companion Slider but have read not only on the OP ‘s post but elsewhere about the back of the pinbox hitting the tailgate. I suspect that there are clearance issues with leaving the tailgate open however, for those that have the MultiPro tailgate would opening the inner tailgate solve the issue with the back of the pinbox hitting the tailgate?

Our B&W slider is in a 6.75 GMC bed and seems to work fine when moved to rear. If you are having an issue why not raise the B&W to next higher stting and then raise the pinbox on the trailer. Unless I am missing something ( very possible lol ) this would increase clearance without changing bed clearance or ride height.
