I think alliance is using the slim rack system now instead of bal.

Back in business with extended shaft drives. They had our 5er for 6 hours and did a nice job. The slide runs much better. Parts and labor came to just under $1200. Shop rate = $160 (Camping World supposedly $190). Kit marked up to $180. Hadn’t realized the fix involves drilling a hole in the extrusion for a bushing to support the extended shaft. So, I am not a professional RV Tech and had never performed the repair before. I replaced both of our motors in about 8 hours. So at that rate he is charging you 150.00 per hour. Maybe that is the going labor rate! Not sure. I can understand that the new kit would add @ 1/2 hour to install the templates and drill the holes.
The kits are 105.00, but I am sure he will(and in fairness should charge you a reasonable markup.)
I would be sure to ask him to leave you the tension gauge for future maintenance needs.
Again, I would highly suggest that you have a conversation with the leadership at Alliance before contracting the work.
Our tech was doing a couple of replacements a week. But I feel we have a lot more RVs here in SW Florida generally, but especially this time of year. So that might skew things a bit.Back in business with extended shaft drives. They had our 5er for 6 hours and did a nice job. The slide runs much better. Parts and labor came to just under $1200. The tech told me he’d done 6 other jobs already this year. I kept both of the old drives. The right hand one’s case was deformed so badly grease is coming out of the seam. The other’s shaft is cocked but the gears are still meshing.
Thanks to Bryan, I knew to ask for the tension tool. Will keep an eye on tensioning.
