Actual Pin Weight?

Looking for an idea of actual loaded pin weight for the Avenue All Access fifth wheel models 29BH and 30BH. Interested in purchasing and want to also know if others are towing with a 2500 or a 3500 tow vehicle.

Well don’t know the actual but you can figure 22 to 23 percent of the GVWR and get a good idea. 29bh is 11,895 so 2600 to 2700lbs is a good place to start. Everybody’s pin weight varies, depends on what you are carrying and where it is at in your camper. Most don’t ever weigh to find out. If you’re looking to buy a truck also always go bigger.

Agree with UFF. Go bigger. The difference in pricing between say at 250/2500 and a 350/3500 is not that great. You will enjoy the piece of mind that you are not near the GVWR or cargo wt or RAWR limits.

Experience has taught me if you're towing a 5th wheel the minimum truck is a 3500 SRW.
Especially if you're buying new the price difference between 25 and 3500 is negligible however the capability is significant.

You do not want to be play the can I carry a game or is it too heavy game. More margin and capacity is always a good thing.

Look at the door sticker for the specific truck. It will tell you all of the weight info you need. Payloads vary among them. More bells & whistles, lower pin weight. Use the 20-25% number from the trailer GVWR and then find the truck that will accommodate it.

2023 F-350SRW CC 4WD w/7.3 gas
Front axle max: 5,200
Rear axle max: 7,230
GCVWR: 25,200

2023 F-350SRW w/full fuel, driver and 3 adult pax/some gear
Front axle: 4,760
Rear axle: 3,080

Truck w/2026 Avenue 30BH (@ camping weight)
Total weight of rig: 19,900
Steer axle: 4,700
Drive Axle: 5,380
Trailer axle: 9,820

Truck is 500# under front axle max and 1,850# to rear axle max. The F250s I was looking at would pull this rig, but not with very much margin. And DEFINITELY not with the diesel! I can't say enough about overshooting your anticipated "needs". SO much more comfortable knowing we're not on the bubble with this rig!
