340RL Pin box Welded?

Our unit was built 08/2023 with the Curt Rota-Flex pin box. I’ve been thinking about raising it one hole to level out the trailer or just change out to a Gen-Y. So today I finally got around to looking at the mount and I found what look like welds holding the pin box to the mounting “wings” of the frame? I tried scratching them with a metal punch and tapped them; sounds like a weld. One side is even cracking/detached (poor weld?).
So for those that have changed out their rota-flex pin box, did you encounter some kind of weld or adhesive between the pin box and frame? This is directed to those that have a build date close to our unit. Here is photos. Hope its not too large.

I ran into something similar when we changed our pin box. Turns out it was excessive amounts of whatever they coat the frame and pin box with. Once unbolted, I am fairly confident the your box will come out without any issue.
I will say, the built up material was difficult to remove, I used a file , coarse sand paper and a wire wheel to ensure I had a clean flat surface for the new pin box to slide into.
