295MK real world hitch weight?

I have a 295MK and pull it with a 3500 HD Chevy with a standard bed and a PullRite SuperSlide Hitch. a great combo for two people IMO.
I’m not sure if a 2500 HD would handle the weight? Others may chime in that have a 2500 Truck and a pin weight of 2,800 -2,900 lbs and an all in weight of 15,000 lbs for the trailer maxed.
Did you ever weigh your trailer and what year corresponding pin weights are?

I worried about about before I picked up as well. Hit the CAT scales 1st trip out and worry faded away. My pin weight was 3040 that 1st trip which was about 200 over what was stated for the dry weight online. Since ours is the 385fl, we have flexibility in where we store, forward or rear. Also the washer/ dryer is in the back behind the wheels. Helps adjust the pin weight if needed. We got weighed at the National Rally last May and they do the weight per wheel, truck and trailer. That put all issues to rest.

By the way, really jealous of you location, 3-4 inches of snow tonight just outside of Richmond, VA

Yeah I'm hoping when I weight for the first time it'll alieve all my concerns but honestly I think I'm right in the ballpark. Yeah I used to live in Wisconsin and man the 20 below winters I had enough of that lol

At a 3100# pin, add two people, 30+ gallons of fuel, 300# hitch, you are getting close. Your money, your rig, but you are definitely into DRW territory imo. At least FL is pretty flat and not super windy.

Darrell,

As you said, to each his own. We are within our numbers on all the parameters. We have driven on the flatlands to the beaches and across the mountains to Elkhart and back. High winds crossing Ohio but handled nicely. Will probably consider a dually next time as you can never have too much truck.

Like I said I will post our weight analysis from the Rally next time we take her out. BTW the Pullrite superglide hitch on my truck weighs 230 lbs. The 3100 lbs was an estimate, see above 3040 lbs.
30lb dog too. 36 gals fuel = approx 250 lbs
Getting better all the time.

Happy camping,

Bruce

We have a 2022 - 295mk and tow with a 22 GMC 3500 dually. We loaded to have Morryde IS installed last March and had it weighed before heading there. Morryde required you to have it weighed loaded like you're camping. Truck without trailer was 5280 front and 4380 rear 9660 total. Truck and trailer weights were 5260 front and 7240 rear and 22620 total. Would suggest the tongue weight was 2860 and the trailer came in at 12960. Haven't been back on the scales since but heading to Elkhart on the 1st of March for some warranty work and plan on weighing on my way home. Kinda curios on how much the suspension weighs. Two adults and gear.

so here is my set up. truck only and with trailer empty with only 1/3 tank of fresh water and hot water full. I cant figure out why its so heavy being empty.

Your trailer total weight is 12,980. Dry weight listed (current Alliance page for 295mk, ymmv) is 12,567. That doesn't sound too far off to me for something not loaded yet. I am curious to see what the weight is once you have it ready to camp and your truck loaded.

Manufacturers do not put that weight on a sticker. You won't find it.

Yeah I realized after I posted that it was a dumb question, sorry. Have you weighed your trailer empty? I’m just interested in a real-world empty hitch weight so I can be better informed ahead of taking delivery.

We have the 385FL and pull with '24 Chevy 3500hd SRW SB with the Pullrite Superglide auto hitch as well and has been perfect for us. We had it weighed at the National Ally Rally and everything was spot on with some room to spare on the weights.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

I am considering 36V11. Have 2024 gmc 2500 SRW SB w/max trailer. 22k tow, 30k gcwr, 3345 payload. 36v11 weight(s) similar to 385FL. Thoughts? How is the Pullrite?

dietrichr,

I am attaching our weigh form from the 2025 National Rally. All of our numbers match up with no outliers. In your case, your 3/4 ton may run over on payload as you will need to account for the pin weight (3,000+), fuel, hitch weight, equipment, dogs and passengers.
Our Pullrite Superglide has worked flawlessly.
Hope this helps and good luck,

I am going to get slammed I'm sure, but what follows is absolutely accurate. I would look at the sticker on a similarly (identical if possible) equipped 3500, same model year, and look at the stickers on that truck. There are three differences on HD GMs for that model year; the badging, a snowplow brace up front on the 3500, and the sticker. They are otherwise identical trucks with two different stickers, derated on the 2500 only to meet the needs (insurance, regulatory, etc.) of a certain portion of their consumer base. Same engine, transmission, differential, capacities, suspension, frame, brakes, axles...every single item is the same. GM will gladly confirm they are identical except for the brace, but they will not comment on the derated sticker as that is considered proprietary and not regulated the way other measures are. This is not true for every brand. It is 100% accurate for that MY, on that GM, with max trailer. I do not advocate ignoring stickers but your truck is the outlier, it is rated inaccurately low to its true capabilities.

dietrichr,

My only follow up is, just because your truck can pull or tow the unit you may not want to, if you are overweight and something happens, insurance may be an issue.

Just a head's up as some folks have been through it.

What Mike is saying is true, I think an extra leaf may be the only difference.

With the litiguous nation we live in you may want to be sure your #s are right.

Good luck,

With the max trailer package it is identical, including suspension. But, that truck, configured that way between 2022 and 2025 is the outlier. Other American brands are not identical in their builds of 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.
