The TV speakers and / or the ceiling speakers provide poor sound quality for the TV IMHO. Also the controls for the JBL sound system control are located in a poor location (have to pull out the TV to use). I decided to upgrade to a center channel speaker and did a lot of research on options. I found a center channel speaker without a separate sub that wasn't too deep or too high.
I purchased a Yamaha SR-B20A Sound Bar from Crutchfield and have been very happy with the sound (reasonable bass that can be separately adjusted, clear voice setting, plenty loud, multiple mode settings, etc.). A definite improvement over the TV or ceiling speakers. Also, it serves as a bluetooth speaker for when I want to listen to radio or Spotify. Attached are some photos showing how it was installed.
