As you can see from the title, we have that truck. It does not have the advanced tow package. From what I've seen on other forum posts, it would be a definite no to buy the 38dbl. But those other posts don't mention that they have diesels or gassers. And please don't jump down my throat (I'm asking because I really don't know if it makes a difference)....but does it? My hubby isn't convinced that we should purchase that size fiver so I thought I'd jump on this forum and ask. Thanks in advance. PS we are trading in a class c and have definitely decided on the Alliance brand. What other size would be good for this size truck?

Certainly, jumping down anyone’s throat is never appropriate. It is rare to find that type of response here.
To answer your question, diesel vs gassers does without any doubt impact many things.
To name a few, it will impact maintenance costs, fuel mileage and payload capacity.. The weight of the engine alone is heavier, so apples to apples on the same chassis, the diesel chassis will have a reduced weight rating.
Personally, I am pro diesel mainly for the performance benefits, torque is king!
At the end of the day, check the tag ratings on your current truck and shop appropriately for your published weight ratings.
Remember this , when talking to any new truck Sale Person. When they tell you it can towing anything, your response should be, prove to me that it can carry it.

Here is a prime example of what I am referring to:
Copied from the internet.
2021 Ford Super Duty F-250 Payload Capacity

Payload range 3,040 lbs. to 4,260 lbs. Maximum gas payload rating of 4,260 lbs. Maximum diesel payload rating of 3,940 lbs.

Check you specific ratings via your door tags or VIN and shop accordingly.

To make an informed decision you need to familiarize yourself with the towing parameters.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating ,Payload rating, tire rating, front and rear axle rating.
You also need to understand pin weight, cargo capacity and GVWR of the trailer as well.
Also learn what an exhaust brake is . All modern diesels have them gas engines do not.
It may seem like a lot to learn, google is your friend.
It is important that you understand these terms and the physics behind them.
Otherwise your just relying on some guy on the internet to tell you if it's OK vs. knowing the facts and parameters for yourself.
Try to get it right the first time winging it and upgrading later is always costly.
Without digging into the numbers too deeply a 16,000 # GVW trailer is too much for a F250 or any 3/4 ton truck.

I'm sorry - I totally put misleading info in my post. The truck is a 2021 we bought new and it's an awesome truck-we know all about its features and it's used heavily. Wanting to move to fiver from class c. What i was questioning was whether diesel vs gasser makes a difference if pulling the 38dbl. From what I see in your response is that it doesn't have anything to do with fuel, but it's totally due to it being a 250 and the weight of the rv. I'm totally in love with a dually but that ain't happening lol. Thanks for your response and sorry for the confusion. My bf wasn't wanting to get the 38dbl, but you know how us girls can be sometime ;)

I definitely don't want to be unsafe (for us and anyone else on the road) and we'll just go to a smaller Alliance.
