Can the a/c be run from the battery while the solar recharges it?
Hi folks, the a/c system runs off of 120 volts ac current. The only way you could run the a/c from the battery would be thru an inverter system.
For example, the battery would supply 12 volt DC power to the inverter. The inverter would invert that 12 v DC to 120 v AC current to power the A/C.
You would need a properly sized inverter and a fairly large battery bank to give you the capacity to run it for any extended length of time.
With a properly sized battery bank and properly sized solar system it would be possible.

It was my understanding that the a/c in my trailer are now 12 volt dc now instead of 110 volt a/c as in the past.
I believe you are confused or have been mislead. The refrigerators in many units have switched to 12 volt operation
The air condition has always been 120 AC current. It takes a lot of amperage to operate, hence you need to plug it into the power pedestal at the campground or have a rather healthy inverter system and battery bank.
