Generator question?

If I put my generator on with My fifth wheel plugged into my truck (At a rest stop for lunch for example) will the electricity mess up my truck through the 7 pin? Or do I need to unplug from truck when I put on the gen?

thanks

IMHO You should be fine, your generator would be outputting AC voltage to feed the 120v side of things. Your truck obviously would be 12v DC. These are isolated from each other!
What would happen is that upon starting the generator, AC would be supplied to the converter and the converter would be charging the trailer battery and given your specific circuit design your 7 pin charge line could provided a charge to your truck battery as well.
Some folks even run their genset while traveling to power the Air Conditioners to pre cool their coaches prior to arrival in the summer months.

Generator creates AC power for RV to use. It therefore powers the converter, which charges battery and supplies 12v to RV. Now, solar does some of the same...all while driving. It will charge batter bank while driving and connected to your truck. The trucks 7-pin connection might (at best) provide 2-3 amps to battery. There is no issue with generator running, while plugged into truck.

I have a similar question, I have a Ford F250 with onboard generator of 2kw/20 amp outlet with gfci. When I use an adapter pigtail from RV to 20 amp male, plug it into the truck vial extension cord, the truck gfci immediately trips. My truck generator uses a floating neutral that is isolated from ground. I have not tried with home outlets yet. Is this an issue with the trailer wiring being done incorrectly or what gives? I was told to plug a neutral/ground bonding adapter into one of the trucks outlets to fix, but it too trips the truck gfci. I can run a drill fine from the truck.
