Ext. sensor fail

Got to my first campground and auto level wouldn’t work on our 2025 valor 44v14. I keep getting the error message Ext Sensor Fail. It may or may not be related, but we had a hydraulic leak and a failed piston on the slide. Anyone know where the sensor is located????

This is most likely the rear sensor and it isn’t communicating with the main controller.
The rear sensor is normally mounted on the centerline of the frame just rear of the rear axles.
I have heard of them coming loose and falling from its mounting location which causes it to loose it calibration and reference point, causing the error message. Other possibilities could be it isn’t plugged in, mis wired or just flat out failed.

Wjholter,

Bryan is right. While we were at the National Rally the Lippert rep came out as we could not use auto level. I told him based on my re-zeroing level while stationary, then manually moving the jacks out of level then pushing autolevel it worked fine. Travel with rig and trying it again it would not work. The tech found the rear sensor was swinging free. He re-fastened and it now works every time and is awesome.
There is a flap in the underbelly just behind the rear axle, the sensor is up behind it.
Good luck,
Bruce

When you reach it, try to move it. One of the screws had stripped out and was allowing ours to spin a bit on the other.

Thanks folks. I’ll take a look at the rear sensor tomorrow
You might also take a quick look in your front compartment, usually mounted on the ceiling will be the front sensor/controller. Be sure the rear sensor is plugged in place and seated.
Lippert has some installation instructions on their website that might help give you an overview of the system.
Please Follow up with us and share your findings.
Also once you get your problem resolved, you should go thru the calibration process to reset level.
This is an easy process, level it inside via the old school method, use a good old fashion bubble level . Use you manual mode to get side to side and front to back where you like them. After that, you turn the controller power button off and push(if believe the front button like 5 times , followed by the rear button 5 times) The system will flash and display calibration successful.(don’t quote me on the number of button presses, check the manual)

Here is the process from a training slide deck.

SETTING THE ZERO POINT
LCD TOUCH PAD
• Manually run the jacks to level the unit. This is best achieved by placing a level in the center of the unit and leveling it both front to back and side to side.
• Once the unit is level, turn off the touch pad.
• With the touch pad off, press and release the
“FRONT” button 5 times and then press and
release the “REAR” button 5 times.
• The touch pad will flash and beep and the
display will read “ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
ENTER to set, Power to Exit”.
• To set the current position as the zero point,
press “ENTER” button.
• LCD reads “Zero point stability check”.
• LCD display will read “Zero point set
successfully” once process is complete.
• The system will set this point as its level state
and the touch pad will turn off

Sounds like you're having one hell of a go with your 2025 Valor?
Yes, 100%. Turns out the slide piston caused all of my problems. It came free and when it did, the fitting was broken and it pinched the wires running to the rear sensor. Just found the sensor yesterday and it looked good, so I looked at the wires in the area of the piston and sure enough the wrap looked messed up and I found a broken wire inside. The good news is i should have time today to splice the wires, the replacement piston arrives today and a repairman comes tomorrow morning to replace it. So, God willing, we'll be back to business weds afternoon.
